A focus on reading

Literacy runs through a lot of what the school does: Ocean Bay follows South Carolina's Read to Succeed reading plan, runs a Summer Reading Challenge, and has even added a book vending machine to make a new book something students look forward to. Those early reading habits are exactly where a child either learns to read on grade level or starts to fall behind.
